HOW IT USUALLY WORKS
Hook: A luxury brand giveaway (“Le Creuset Cookware”) combined with urgency (“claim by midnight”).
Engagement: If you click the link, attackers may:
Lead you to a fake website that mimics a brand or retailer.
Ask for personal or payment info to “claim” your gift (credit card, shipping fee, etc.).
Sign you up for hidden subscriptions that drain your account monthly.
Install malware if you download anything.
Outcome: Victims lose money, expose sensitive data, or compromise their devices.
WHAT TO DO
Do not click the link.
Do not reply to the message.
Block the sender on your phone.
Delete the message after taking a screenshot (if you want to report it).
